about

Tim DeLaughter & Philip E. Karnats go way back. Karnats joined the ranks of the latter day incarnation of Tripping Daisy in 1997 going on to create Jesus Hits Like The Atom Bomb. After Tripping Daisy disbanded in 1999, the two never lost touch. In 2006 Tim was inspired by Phillip’s solo material and was eager to release the album Pleasesuite into the world via Good Records Recordings. 2011 saw Tim call on Phillip to produce and sculpt a batch of demos he had written which became the Preteen Zenith album "Rubble Guts And BB Eye." Whilst working on that album, between Phil's own Sangdos Studio in Chicago and the far out Walshtown, Mississippi cabin turned home studio, created by DeLaughter and Karnats, the duo schemed up the two characters which the album wound up being named after.

Per Karnats,"In the midst of recording the Preteen Zenith record, Tim was encountering some destruction in his mid section (Rubble Guts) and I had a chalazion under my eyelid resembling a lodged BB (BB Eye)...then the western theme crept into the absurdity of it. Basically, it was a union of failing physical health. When my eye cleared up, Tim was like “Now we can’t be Rubble and BB anymore!” I seem to remember him asking if I could lodge an actual BB in there."

They came up with a backstory for each character and storyline which would ultimately become "The Adventures of Rubble Guts And BB Eye." To go along with the trials of Rubble Guts And BB Eye, Phillip and Tim would compose instrumentals for the future to score the series of films and as standalone releases under the moniker Rubble Guys and BB Eye henceforth. The song "Golpes" is the instrumental score to part one in the series. Trivia- “Golpes” is Spanish for “Hits,” hence the chant on the track - Jesus Hits Like The Atom Bomb.
